The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open is quickly approaching and with it, a chance to win great golf gear and other prizes. Golf fans can benefit the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation, the non-profit entity that operates the annual PGA TOUR tournament, by placing bets on the number of anticipated birdies during the 2008 tournament, which takes place July 28 – Aug. 3. Bets may range from 10 cents to $10 per birdie, are fully tax deductible and have allowed the organization to donate more than $1.7 million to charity over the last nine years. Historically, players have carded an average of 1,500 birdies each year. The person making the winning bet receives a new flat screen TV and Nintendo Wii, compliments of Best Buy. Each summer, The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open relies on hundreds of volunteers to help run northern Nevada’s only PGA TOUR Tournament.
