As the benchmark for professional sporting events in northern Nevada, the Reno-Tahoe Open is preparing to celebrate its 12th anniversary in style. Continuing on the success of previous years' new events and attractions such as the 16th Hole Fiesta Loco, the Kidz Par-Tee Zone and the Get Fit Fore Charity walk, July 12th - July 18th, 2010 is set to be a week for the record books. As continuation of its Clubs for Armed Forces program, The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno- Tahoe Open, together with foundation sponsor EMPLOYERS, a Reno-based company providing workers' compensation insurance and services to select, small businesses sent off golf clubs and tee prize packets for the armed forces who are currently serving abroad in the war zones Iraq and Afghanistan.  Tournament officials, EMPLOYERS and Golf Headquarters loaded up 20 sets of clubs, prizes and golf balls to be delivered in anticipation of an upcoming golf tournament taking place at the end of September at Camp Bucca, 25 miles into Iraq from the Kuwait border. - Clubs for Armed Forces Delivery

The Legends Reno-Tahoe Open is proud that several contenders of the 2009 FedExCup competition have been golfers right here in our community, at the pristine Montrêux Golf & Country Club.  2009 Legends Reno-Tahoe Open alumni Daniel Chopra, John Mallinger, James Nitties, Greg Owen, Kevin Na, Jonathan Byrd, Rod Pampling, Scott McCarron, Marc Leishman, Heath Slocum (winner of Barclays 2009 playoff event), Kevin Sadler, Charlie Wi, Mark Wilson and 2009 LRTO Champion John Rollins are all still in contention for the FedExCup.  The winner of the 2009 LRTO received 250 points toward the goal of attaining the coveted prize and we hope that helped this year's LRTO winner, John Rollins, in his quest for the Cup.  - FedEx Cup Playoffs

John Rollins earned his third PGA TOUR victory today during the final round of the 11th annual Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open. At 17-under, Rollins came in at an even par 72 in round four for a final score of 271, three strokes ahead of second place finishers Jeff Quinney and Martin Laird. The victory was witnessed by a crowd of thousands including last year’s champion Parker McLachlin, who finished T-34 alongside 2007 winner Steve Flesch and the tournament’s two foreign exemptions Charl Schwartzel and Francesco Molinari, among others. Rollins is now fully exempt for the remainder of the 2009 and all of the 2010-2011 seasons and earns 250 FedExCup points, moving him up to 20th in the standings, along with a position to play in the 2010 SBS Championship and 2010 PLAYERS Championship. - LRTO_Final Round_Recap

The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open announces three noteworthy additions to its field list – foreign exemptions Francesco Molinari of Italy and South African golfer Charl Schwartzel – along with Jason Schmuhl of the Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association (NCPGA). Molinari, at No. 79 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) and Schwartzel, No. 64 on the OWGR, were granted Foreign Exemptions by PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem as both are quickly rising stars in the international game of golf. Each summer, the Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open relies on volunteers from across the country to ensure the successful execution of northern Nevada’s only PGA TOUR event. And this year is no exception. The 11th annual Legends Reno-Tahoe Open is seeking more than 700 dedicated volunteers to help run northern Nevada’s only PGA TOUR tournament, set for Aug. 3 – 9, 2009. Tasks range from coordinating guest transportation and hotel accommodations to working on the course as walking scorers and Shotlink laser operators. The Legends at Sparks Marina Reno-Tahoe Open along with EMPLOYERS, a Reno-based group of companies providing workers' compensation insurance and services to select, small businesses, seeks the northern Nevada community’s help in collecting new and used golf clubs and balls to benefit members of the United States Armed Forces. Donations are currently being accepted at Golf Headquarters, located at 4112 Kietzke Lane in Reno, through July 31, 2009 to be sent to armed forces for use at golf courses and driving ranges in Iraq and Afghanistan. On Thursday, April 9 nearly 200 people gathered at the Eldorado Hotel Casino to enjoy an evening among friends during the inaugural ‘Noodle This’ charity dinner, surrounded by vintage Italian decor and candlelight as a violinist strolled through the crowd entertaining attendees. It's official, northern Nevada's only PGA TOUR event has outdone itself. Each year, upon completion of the annual Legends at Sparks Marina Reno Tahoe Open, the PGA TOUR issues a review of the tournament, evaluating everything from golf cart batteries to bathrooms and signage, and provides a list of items to be improved upon for next year.
